Capalaba Physio Services can help recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, and increase mobility. Our physiotherapists can also help you prevent further injury by listening to your needs and working with you to plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition, including setting goals and treatment outcomes. As first contact practitioners, a doctor’s referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist. However, physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals will often work as part of a team to plan and manage treatment for a specific condition.
Physiotherapy is a science-based healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through physical means. Katrina Dalzell and Deb Paton are experts in movement and function who work in partnership with their patients, assisting them to overcome movement disorders, which may have been present from birth, acquired through accident or injury, or are the result of aging or life-changing events. Your quality of life can be improved with physiotherapy.
At Capalaba Physiotherapy Centre we really strive to live up to the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s logo of Move Well. Stay Well.
Brochure showing the benefits of physiotherapy
Katrina and Deb are passionate about the benefits of massage for repair of muscle injury and general well being. For some conditions, massage is used as part of your physiotherapy treatment. However, your physiotherapist also uses other techniques such as joint mobilization, stretching, designing exercise programmes and education. A combination of treatment techniques gives a better result than massage alone. Your physio will refer you to a massage therapist if they feel your condition has progressed to a stage where massage is the key to your ongoing rehabilitation.
The main benefits of massage include:
- Reduction of mental stress – relieving headaches and poor sleep pattern
- Release of muscle tension and spasm – relieving back, neck and shoulder pain
- Strengthening the immune system – boosting resistance to colds and flu
- Improving healing time – eg. for sporting and work injuries
- Increasing blood circulation – increasing energy levels
